About this solution

Classroom engagement: each student is classified in real time as Attentive or Distracted, and facial expressions show how the class reacts to the content. Teachers and coordinators see the attention index minute by minute and the moments when the lesson loses the class.

  1. 1Each student's pose (head, shoulders and hands) is estimated by YOLO11-pose and tracked across frames.
  2. 2Each student's head direction is compared with the class as a whole — anyone looking elsewhere for more than 1.5 s is marked as distracted (wandering gaze).
  3. 3A phone in hand (or next to a student with their head down) and a prolonged head-down posture also count as distraction; taking notes in a notebook for a few seconds does not.
  4. 4The HSEmotion model reads each student's facial expression; the class attention index and satisfaction are recorded throughout the lesson.

Benefits

  • Objectively shows the parts of the lesson where attention drops — a basis for adjusting pace, activities and breaks.
  • Metrics aggregated by class, subject and time slot, without identifying students.
  • Data-driven teacher development, not impressions.
